    WA V VICTORIA WRAP UP

The team met at the Airport on Thursday evening prepared for our Red Eye Flight to Melbourne, we were short team Coach and Tyla Maguire who had flown from Busselton earlier in the day and Georgia who had flown earlier in the week. We managed to get something to eat before loading onto the plane to Melbourne. We made our way to our pit stop for the night and grabbed a few hours of shut eye before the knock came from Barry that we were to get ready to depart.

We arrived in Trafalgar to a bit of a drizzle and hoped that this would go away before we got onto horses. We had a quick foot session with rackets whilst the last of our horses arrived and quickly set to work. Barry directing players in how to check and test for certain maneuvers that we might need in the upcoming up games. Unfortunately, one team member sustained an injury to their shoulder during practice.

We then attended a late lunch at the local with members of the Victorian Team which was a great meal and way to get to know some of the people we would be playing with and against. We had a second short ridden session which allowed the last of the horses to be ridden out and finalized.

Friday night saw us have an introduction of teams hosted by the Trafalgar Club which was great to be involved in.

Our first game Saturday was a test of horses and players to see what fitted where with the Victorians getting the jump and us trailing behind, we saw some excellent work from Charles Marriott in the middle with a number of snaps and the girls starting to find their feet. Kye Yeomans tested his shoulder in the first game and after the game was finished decided he would be unable to continue with the injury he had sustained.

We moved onto the second game of the series with the Vics again getting the jump but the WA team pulling together and getting the lead in the fourth chukka. The game was hard fought with the Vics getting up by a few in the end.

Sunday morning saw us prepare for our final game of the series. We kitted up and went out and again showed great improvement across the chukkas but unfortunately we still went down. After our game we attended presentations where our team Captain Jane McGuire was awarded Best Number 2 for the weekend.

A huge thank you to Trafalgar Polocrosse Club, Polocrosse Victoria and all of our horse owners. The tour has opened up some further discussion on Under 21 Development Tours between WA and Vic and we hope to make this an ongoing relationship.
